Intiri was founded in 1995 to establish a chain of hardware and remodeling stores in Russia. To test the market for this large project Jim and Katya founded a remodeling and interior design company. Due to the Russian business environment they felt that bringing investors into the project was too risky and all Russian business projects were soon abandoned. The prototype store in Vladivostok and the remodeling company currently operate under Russian ownership.
Jim and Katya moved to Seattle in late 1997. After a year of self-study of Internet technologies and business concepts at Microsoft seminars they moved to Silicon Valley, CA in 1999 to start their projects. Jim is a native of San Jose.
Intiri.com is our corporate site.
Jim has some 40 years of business experience in construction, public accounting, retail, and other industries. During college in the 1970's he co-built Preston Pipelines into one of California's largest underground utility companies, in the 1980's and 90's he was a CPA with KPMG, his own CPA firm for 12 years and an office founder / director for Deloitte and Touche in Russia.
Jim applied cross-discipline work process at Preston Pipelines to give the company a sustainable competitive advantage. He successfully introduced desktop computing at Peat Marwick, now KPMG, in 1981. His own CPA firm was a part-time lab during the 1980's to research user needs and assist programmers to develop desktop computer software for over a dozen industries. Currently Jim works only on his own large scale innovation projects.
Jim has produced useful work in over 50 disciplines and uses that unusually broad background along with ongoing studies to develop innovative solutions across industry categories.
Katya is employed full time with a national employee benefits firm as the senior manager for strategic initiatives. In that role she develops a wide variety of projects in business analytics, productivity, reporting, and Web application development.
Katya works part-time on Intiri projects. She designs tabletop settings for Intiri and helps with other design, technical, and administrative issues. For WineQuesters.com she assists with mapping, data collection, photography, and videography.
